Good morning and welcome to our worship time at Temple Baptist Church. Summertime is when many families take a vacation.  Vacations are needful to get away from the routines of life and to be able to rest and reflect. Since creation, God has taught that a scheduled, consistent period of rest is a good thing. God put down His paintbrush, and He rested His hands from forming His creation. He ceased. He didn’t need the rest, yet that’s exactly what He did. He stopped and let His newly-formed creation continue around Him. His example shows the way we should live – balancing work and rest. Some people are consumed by fun, rest and hobbies. At no time should these things control us; we must control them. We should use our free time, our vacation days, our breaks – and not let them use us. God isn’t against hobbies, sports, amusements and other relaxing activities… unless we pursue them out-of-balance with our other time and work investments. God’s not against fun, but He is against disobedience (sin)… so make sure that your fun doesn’t come at the price of not doing the right things at the right time with the right people! For example: Going on vacation with your family can be a blast – but you don’t always have to miss church while you’re away. And don’t spend your tithe money to pay for your vacation. Make sure your vacation fun doesn’t cost you something greater in the long run.
