“And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd” (John 10:16).
A couple of months have gone by since we last communicated. We returned home from Florida to a full schedule – Chris went to teach at the Bible school in Mombasa; then we had a most wonderful graduation, our couples’ fellowships resumed and many exciting discussions have resulted. Then a few weeks ago, we resumed our Bible club at the school in Mukuru slums.
Theresa continues with the teachers but the high school has moved to another location, so Chris is doing grades 7 and 8. In the meantime, we look for a way to restart the program for the high schoolers.
We are looking forward to the August school vacations, when we expect to run our first camps in the slums, after several years. One of the major challenges we face is changes in the policy regarding nonteachers who run programs in schools. We are praying and hoping that our ministry will not be restricted.
Sanzu Speak: Sanzu had a football (soccer) accident and broke his nose in April. He spent 3 days in hospital and is back to good health, for which we are thankful. He only missed three days of class, so he was able to catch up after he was released from hospital. We are thankful!
Weu’s Wows (No Woes,Thanks to Mike): Maweu has had a hectic term. The first half was taken up with the school musical – Joseph and the Technicolour Coat. He was in charge of sound and put a lot of work into it. Now he has to recover lost class time. Deadlines. Deadlines.
For Your Encouragement: “For I know the thought that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11). We live in a world full of enemies and threats. We should expect that our God is actively ensuring that all things turn out perfectly.
Pray With Us For: - A team of volunteers to work with us at the school in Mukuru, so that we can reach all the kids on a weekly basis.
- Funds for the weekly transport for the team of volunteers to Mukuru. We need $20 weekly, for such a team.
- Maweu, that he will make up for lost time and that he will be wise in time management.
- Support, we are still low.
