MISSIONS MOMENTS - Becka McMurphy - Missionary To Thailand

Becka McMurphy.png

Thank you so very much for your prayers and encouraging notes over the past few weeks. The last two months have been full of ups and downs, but the Lord has been faithful. He has provided safety while traveling, many opportunities to meet new people, and comfort during the loss of a family member. At the beginning of August, I was able to meet other missionary ladies who are working all over Thailand. This was a great time of encouragement and learning from others who have been here for up to 30+ years. I’m so thankful for the people God has placed in my life, here in Thailand and in the States, who provide great encouragement. Thank you so much for your continued support.

Successful Visa Run

I want to give you a quick update on my visa situation. Thank you so much for your prayers during my visa run to Malaysia in July. Everything went smoothly, and now I am currently on a student visa. I’m grateful for an uneventful trip and that I was able to meet up with a friend in Malaysia. This made it easier and safer getting around Malaysia as I had to go to the Royal Thai Embassy several days, and it was nice to have someone to be with during my stay. I will still have to make “Visa Runs” every 90 days, but should be able to stay under this current visa for the rest of my time as a TEAM missionary. I’m thankful my school provided me with the needed paperwork to get this visa.

Living the Dream: Bangjak Baptist Ladies Retreat

At the end of August, Bangjak Baptist held its annual Ladies Retreat. This year we had a Pakistani ladies retreat on Sunday, then Friday and Saturday had a Thai, English, Filipino retreat. I’m thankful for the opportunity to use some of my design background to help put a booklet together. It was great to get back into designing again. The ladies of the church had a wonderful time of fun, fellowship and laughter. And we so enjoyed having Mrs. Sharon Jackson from Ohio with us.

Language Update

It has taken two months, but I’ve nally learned the entire Thai alphabet! The Thai alphabet has 44 consonants, 15 vowels (that combine into at least 28 vowel forms), and 4 tone markings.
